NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair David Harris announced on Friday that Bracely Williams, the Green Wave's Director of Clinical Behavioral Health, has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Behavioral Health and Performance.
Williams, a native of Santa Cruz, California, began her tenure with Tulane University Athletics in July 2021 as a Licensed Professional Counselor. In August 2023, Williams was promoted to Director of Clinical Behavioral Health for Athletics. Williams is responsible for counseling student-athletes in balancing mind, body, and sport for optimal mental health and well-being. She also works with coaches and athletic staff on implementing best practices for the health and well-being of the Green Wave.
Williams obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Dillard University in 2007 and completed her master's in Family Therapy at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2010. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist for Louisiana. In December 2023, Williams earned her second master's in Sports Studies from Tulane.
Promoting comprehensive mental wellness in sports, Williams serves as the chair for the Tulane Athletic Care Team (TACT). TACT is a multidisciplinary team that manages at-risk student-athletes and provides a best-practice approach to the student-athlete treatment process.
"At the heart of our athletic program is an unwavering commitment to the well-being of our student-athletes," said Harris. "We prioritize their health, safety, and personal growth, ensuring they thrive both on and off the field. Bracely's dedication to leading that effort is outstanding."
Before joining the Tulane family, Williams served as a Clinician and Wellness Educator for Xavier University of Louisiana. In addition to her primary role at Tulane Athletics, Williams owns a private practice, Evolve Family Counseling. Her private practice allows her to have a broad range of clinical experiences ranging from individual, couples, and families.
