NEW ORLEANS – The National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) released its preseason poll today for the 2026-27 season with Tulane slotted No. 17 in the initial rankings.
Â
The Green Wave opened last season at No. 19 and rose as high as No. 17 in the poll. The squad closed the season at No. 18. Tulane was a top-20 squad throughout the entirety of the 2025-26 campaign.
Â
Tulane received 511 voting points to achieve its status of No. 17 in this year's preseason rankings. Jacksonville State, the defending national champion, is the unanimous No. 1 team after receiving all 38 first-place votes. All 11 Conference USA programs are ranked in the top 25, including each of the top six and nine of the top 11. Rounding out the top five behind Jacksonville State are Vanderbilt, Wichita State, Arkansas State, and Nebraska with fellow CUSA foe Youngstown State in sixth.
Â
The Wave returns six bowlers from a year ago, headlined by seniors Sarah Rubi, Juanelyz Solla, and Linnea Holcomb. Junior Valeria Colon is the team's returning leader in strikes after rolling 337 last season. Rubi posted 317 to join her over 300. Also returning are juniors Paige Matiasek and Emma Figert. The Wave welcomes a pair of freshmen to the squad, Malia Briggs and Vicky Lizarazo. Head coach Hayley Veitch is in her 15th season at the helm of the program.
