
Eliza Lennox and Lise Coetzee Lead Swimming and Diving Team on the First Day of the TYR Fall Classic

TYR Fall Classic Results - Day 1
DORAL, FL –Sophomore Eliza Lennox and junior Lise Coetzee each won their event to help lead the Tulane swimming and diving team on the first day of the TYR Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 2, at the Doral Aquatics Center in Doral, Florida. The program had two event victories among the 11 top-10 finishes on day one.
The team is ranked fourth overall of seven teams with 503.50 points after the first eight events of the competition.
Lennox won the 50 free (22.62) and set a new meet record with her time. She also earned 32 points for the team with the victory.
Coetzee won the 200 free with her time of 1:50.32 to earn 32 points. Her teammate, sophomore Maddie Emment, placed 10thh with a 1:52.74 for 17 points.
Freshman Franchesca Sanchez finished as the runner-up in the 100 butterfly with a 57.27 for 28 points.
Senior Gwen Shahboz placed third in the 400 IM (4:28.85) for 27 points.
Sophomore Nicole Fant took fourth in the 100 back (58.67) for 26 points.
The 400 medley relay team of sophomore Marin Shimkus, Ebba Holgersson, Lennox and senior Rafaela Sumida placed fourth with a 3:50.56 for 52 points.
The 200 free relay team of Emment, Lennox, Shimkus and Sanchez were fourth in their event (1:35.41) also for 52 points.
Holgersson took sixth in the 100 breast (1:07.07) for 24 points.
The team had a pair of top 10 finishes in the 1M Dive as freshman Fiona Keilly placed third with 243.35 points, while sophomore Libby Brewer took 10th with 233.45 points.
The events on Saturday, Oct. 3, during the second and final day of competition are the 200-medley relay, 500 free, 200 breast, 200 back, 100 free, 200 fly, 200 IM, the 400 free relay and 3M diving.
