
Tulane Places Third & Sixth in Road Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing posted a pair of top six finishes over the weekend at a pair of separate road regattas in the northeast. The Green Wave placed third in the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One in Harpswell, Maine, and sixth at the Danmark Trophy, in New London, Connecticut.

In Maine at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One the Wave finished with a total score of 103 through 10 rotations to land third out of 17 teams in the regatta. As a team Tulane won three races and placed in the top three nine total races between the two divisions competing over the weekend.

The pairing of skipper Sammie Gardner and crew Taylor Bartell paced the Green Wave from the A Division in the two-day regatta. Gardner and Bartell ended with a total score of 43 to finish second in the division while winning two races. In the B Division, skipper Ava Anderson teamed with crew Caitlin Briggs to place third in the division with a final score of 60.

Meanwhile at the Danmark Trophy in Connecticut the Wave landed sixth out of 19 teams with a total team score of 188 through 11 rotations. Tulane earned one race victory and placed in the top five nine total times across two divisions in the regatta.

The Green Wave finished seventh in both the A and B Divisions of the two-day regatta on the waters of the Thames River. From the A Division skipper Tate Christopher raced with crew Charlotte Casey to record one win and four top three finishes. Skipper Gil Hackel paired with crew Jonah Wozniak for the final race in the A Division as the group finished with a final score of 97.

Over in the B Division of the Danmark Trophy skipper Christian Ebbin teamed with crew Sabrina Anderson to post five finishes in the top five. The duo ended the regatta with a total score of 91.

Up next, the Green Wave will return to the northeast for two separate regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11. Tulane will compete in the Coed Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Maryland, and the Stu Nelson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut.
