Green Wave Returns to Northeast for Weekend Racing

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing will travel back to the northeast this weekend to compete in a pair of road regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11. The Green Wave will be represented by a coed crew at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One in Annapolis, Maryland, while another group for the Wave competes for the Stu Nelson Trophy in New London, Connecticut.

The Open Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One is set to be hosted by Navy at the Robert Crown Sailing Center on the waters of the Severn River. The Wave will be one of 18 teams competing in the regatta which also features sailors from Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown, Fordham, Georgetown, Hobart & William, Jacksonville, MIT, Old Dominion, San Diego State, Kings Point, Navy, Miami, Michigan, Rhode Island, Webb Institute, and Yale.

Racing for the Green Wave at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One will be starting skippers Hamilton Barclay and Kelly Holthus with crews Taylor Bartell and Parker Kumler. Tulane will also have Nico Anders, Sabrina Anderson, Caitlin Briggs, and Christian Ebbin available for the event.

The format for the two-day regatta will consist of two divisions each scheduled to complete 14 races. Competition is slated to begin at approximately 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT Sunday.

Over in New London, Connecticut, at the Stu Nelson Trophy this weekend Tulane will be one of 16 teams on the waters of the Thames River competing in the regatta hosted by Connecticut College. The other teams racing in the two-day regatta will be Boston, Brown, Connecticut College, Dartmouth, Fordham, Harvard, Hobart & William, MIT, Northeastern, Roger Williams, Stanford, Navy, Rhode Island, South Florida, and Yale.

Starting for the Wave at the Stu Nelson Trophy will be skippers Gabriela Vassel, Perrin Mueller, and Lola Kohl alongside crews Brynn Behrens, Charlotte Casey, and Winnie Young. Also available to race for Tulane in the regatta will be Martha Hughes and Paige Tillson.

The Stu Nelson Trophy is slated to be sailed in three divisions with 14 races scheduled for each division. Racing is set to start at approximately 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT Sunday.
