Fantini Clinches Inaugural Goldring Tennis Center Win for Wave

NEW ORLEANS – Natalia Fantini battled back in the third set of her No. 6 singles match and dispatched Laia Tarazona Peyro 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to lift host Tulane to a 4-3 win over UTSA Friday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Center.

It was the first competition of any kind at the facility.

The Green Wave improved to 4-5 overall, while the Roadrunners dropped to 4-4.

Tulane picked up two other singles victories, a 6-2, 6-4 by win by Summer Chandler at No. 2 and a 6-0, 6-4 affair by Natalia Perez at No. 4.

Fantini and Perez also clinched the doubles point, emerging with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3. Micah Pierce and Campbell Ricci won by that same score at No. 2.

Tulane will be back in action Sunday at noon when South Florida pays a visit. The Bulls (2-4) play UTSA Saturday at 11 a.m.
