
Eliza Lennox Leads Swimming on the First Day of the NIC

OCALA, FL – Freshman Eliza Lennox had a pair of individual top 10 finishes to help lead Tulane's swimming team on the first day of the National Invitational Championships on Thursday, March 12, at the FAST Facility in Ocala, Florida. The team is ranked 14th overall of the 46 teams with 73 points after the first eight events of the competition.
Lennox finished third in the 50 free with a 22.81. She also swam a 24.18 in the 50 fly to rank seventh in that event.
Lise Coetzee was the program's fop finisher in the 500 free in 4:48.15 in the 500 free in 13th place.
The 400 free relay team of Marin Shimkus, Ebba Holgersson, Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou, and Phoebe Johnson took 26th in their event.
The 200 free relay team of Lennox, Nicole Fant, Marin Shimkus, and Danielle Barberie took 30th (1:35.74).
Fant was the team's top finisher in the 50 back (26.12).
Gwen Shahboz led the team in the 200 IM (2:04.60).
Holgersson was the program's highest finisher in the 50 breast (29.62).
Mary Kate Kupsky was the team's top finisher in the time trials for the 200 IM (2:08.88)
The events on Friday, March 13, during the second day of competition are the preliminaries for 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and the 800 free relay starting at 8:30 a.m. The finals are set for 5 p.m. and feature the 200 medley relay plus the finals for the events listed above.
