Mar 18, 2026 | Women's Bowling
HARAHAN, La. – The 17th-ranked Tulane bowling team opened the 2026 Conference USA Bowling Championship Wednesday at Colonial Lanes against Vanderbilt, ranked and seeded No. 2. Despite a solid opening to the first portion of the mega-match, the No. 11 seed Green Wave fell 2-0 to the Commodores.
Â
The contest began with a traditional match as the Commodores won a close 977-953 bout. Mia Stolakis led the Wave with a score of 221 as the only Tulane player over 200. Juanelyz Solla and Paige Matiasek each knocked on the door as they posted scores of 199 and 198, respectively. Valeria Colon tallied 186 pins, and Sarah Rubi rounded out the Tulane lineup with a score of 149.
Â
Next up was the Baker round, which Vanderbilt won 1,115-1,007 to secure the mega-match. Tulane fell behind in the first two games, being outscored 218-183 and 224-214. Tulane rallied with a 249-205 advantage in the third game, but Vanderbilt battled back with a 213-185 lead in the fourth. The final game went Vandy's way, 255-176, as the Commodores finished off the contest.
Â
As the championship utilizes a double-elimination format, Tulane is not eliminated despite the loss. The Green Wave now moves to the contenders' bracket and will play again tomorrow afternoon in an elimination match at 2:00 p.m. The Wave will be in action on lanes 13-14 against the loser of the morning bout between two winners from today, Arkansas State and Youngstown State. The Red Wolves are No. 3 in both national rank and seed, and the Shockers are the No. 5 team in the nation and the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
