
Salsberry Shines as Tulane Opens Outdoor Campaign

LAFAYETTE, La. – Tulane began the outdoor track and field season Friday with a pair of field competitions in the Louisiana Classics at Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex as Cara Salsberry's top-five mark in program history for the discus highlighted the day for the Green Wave.
The two-day event began with just two field events, the javelin and the discus. In the women's discus, Cara Salsberry hurled her way into the Tulane record book as she posted a mark of 46.76m to place third in the event and fourth all-time in outdoor program history. Sofia Caruso delivered a 30.64m to place 30th, and Quin Tandeih was 34th with her tally of 29.25m.
In the javelin, Sofie Groeninger placed 13th on the women's side with her mark of 35.26m. On the men's side, Aiden Yang placed eighth with a mark of 53.58m.
The event continues tomorrow with the remainder of the field competitions and all of the track events. Action begins at 7:00 a.m. with the women's 1,000 meters, and the first field competition is the long jump starting at 9:30 a.m.
