Phillips Named American Conference Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's Daniel Phillips captured the American Conference's Player of the Week honor on Tuesday.

Phillips turned in a 3-0 No. 1 singles performance last week in wins over New Mexico's Dario Ciobotaru, Southern's Sebastien Byng and Rice's Petro Kuzmenok. Kuzmenok came into the week ranked #49 nationally. Phillips ousted him in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Philips, who helped his native Bermuda advance in Davis Cup play earlier this year, is 7-6 this spring in singles. In doubles, he has posted a 7-3 record with teammate Lance Nisbet.

The Green Wave (6-8) will be back in action on Friday at #62 Memphis (13-4) at 5 p.m. and at #43 Middle Tennessee (16-7) on Sunday at noon.
