
No. 17 Tulane Bowling Goes 3-2 on First Day of Music City Challenge

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The 17th-ranked Tulane bowling team faced a challenging opening day in the Music City Challenge, facing four ranked foes at the Smyrna Bowling Center Friday. The Green Wave went 3-2 on the day, including splitting its four ranked match-ups, to finish the first day of competition in 12th.

Tulane tallied 4,897 total pins across five sets of five Baker matches. The Wave averaged 195.9 pins per game to finish the opening day of qualifying play in 12th place among the 34 total participants.

The Wave opened against No. 12 North Carolina A&T, falling 1,028-942 to the Aggies. Tulane faced No. 10 Sacred Heart next and secured a major bounce-back win, toppling the Pioneers 973-933. The Wave carried that momentum to break 1,000 for the first time on the day, posting a 1,005-872 triumph over Long Island. A bout against No. 11 Niagara followed, and the Wave again rose to the occasion with a 971-952 win. Another top-10 foe awaited in the finale of the first day as Tulane went up against No. 7 Maryville. However, the Wave fell 1,048-1,006.

The final day of the qualification portion of the event takes place tomorrow with five traditional matches. Tulane will have two more ranked foes on the docket as the Green Wave will face off against No. 5 Louisiana Tech, No. 13 McKendree, Fairleigh Dickinson, Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Prairie View A&M. The tournament will then conclude on Sunday with three rounds of bracket play.
