Marshall Named American Freshman of the Week

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced today its final women's basketball weekly awards of the season with Tulane's Mecailin Marshall tabbed as the freshman of the week. This is her fourth American Freshman of the Week honor of the campaign.
Across Tulane's two games, Marshall averaged 10.0 points per game with a pair of threes made alongside 7.5 rebounds per game. Her rebounding average was 12th in the league for the week.
The native of Lubbock, Texas, delivered her highlight performance yesterday against South Florida, depositing 18 points with a career-high 11 boards for her second double-double of the season. She scored a pair of threes and went a perfect 6-of-6 at the charity stripe while swiping two steals.
Marshall and the Green Wave will be back in action this week for the American Conference Women's Basketball Championship. Tulane enters the tournament as the 10th seed and will face No. 7 Temple in the opening round on Tuesday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The contest will stream on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM and through the Varsity Network App.
