Green Wave Rolls Past Mercer and ULM
Apr 11, 2026 | Women's Beach Volleyball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tulane concluded its stint in the Blazer Beach Bash with a bang Saturday, not dropping a single set across a pair of 5-0 sweeps at the Blazer Beach Courts. The Green Wave dispatched Mercer in the morning before toppling Louisiana Monroe (ULM) in the afternoon, improving to 19-11 on the season.
Â
Like yesterday, Tulane opened with a clean 5-0 sweep without dropping a set. Taking on Mercer, the Wave earned the first point of the dual at the No. 2 pair, where Emma Morris and Katie Hansen delivered a lopsided 21-8, 21-12 drubbing. At the fourth flight, Avery Burks and Gigi Gallegos swept 21-18 and 21-17. The top flight of Molly Trodd and Skylar Ensign clinched the dual for Tulane with a sweep of 21-14 and 21-12. Tulane continued its dominance at the fifth flight, where McKenzie Cutler and Sam O'Connor swept with scores of 21-15 and 21-19. At the third flight, Amirah Ali and Tawny Ensign polished off the clean sweep by winning set one 21-15 and set two 23-21, with the second frame the only one in the contest to need extra points.
Â
The Wave ran the same lineup out against ULM, and they again delivered a dominant victory. Hansen and Morris were the first to finish at the No. 2 position, earning a sweep with sets of 21-11 and 21-12. Burks and Gallegos followed with another sweep at No. 4, earning a 21-18 set one win before cruising in the second frame to a 21-11 triumph. Trodd and S. Ensign clinched the dual at the top flight with their sweep, claiming both sets by a margin of 21-16. The most dominant performance came from Ali and T. Ensign, who won both sets at flight three 21-8. Rounding out the 5-0 win, Cutler and O'Connor swept at the fifth flight 21-13 and 21-11.
Â
The regular season nears its conclusion as Tulane returns home to host the last tournament of the campaign before the Conference USA Championship. The Green Wave will host the NOLA Classic on April 17 and 18 at White Sands Beach Volleyball Courts. Three duals will take place on Friday, April 17, as Tulane faces Arizona, ULM, and New Orleans. The following day is senior day for the Wave, who will take on Florida International and Southern Miss.
