Apr 18, 2026 | Sailing
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing rolled to its sixth consecutive sweep of the SEISA Fleet Race Conference Championships on Lake Pontchartrain Saturday. The Green Wave cruised to victory in the open and women's championships finishing first or second in all but one race in the two regattas.
Â
The championship Saturday began with the open fleet race championship featuring the Wave competing against teams from Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Rice, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, and Texas A&M – Galveston. Tulane dominated the competition finishing with 25 total points, 64 points ahead of the next team, through eight rotations.
Â
The Green Wave was paced by the A Division in the open championship which ended the day with just 11 points in eight races. Skipper Hamilton Barclay teamed with crew Taylor Bartell to begin the regatta with a pair of first place finishes in the first three rotations. Skipper Kelly Hotlhus followed with crew Jonah Wozniak to land first in one of their three races before skipper John Wood paired with crew Hope Breslin to take first in the final two races.
Â
Over in the B Division the Wave closed the competition with 14 points behind the racing of skippers Christian Ebbin, Tate Christopher, Ryan Ehnot, and Matheo Capasso alongside crews Sabrina Anderson and Hope Breslin. Ebbin and Anderson earned a race victory to open the day before Christopher and Breslin teamed up to add to more first place performances in the division.
Â
Tulane rolled the momentum from the open championship right into the women's championship dominating with only nine points across three rotations to earn the win. In the A Division skipper Ava Anderson with crew Ella May Corckran cruised to win the first two races of the regatta while skipper Ashley Hoguet stepped in with crew Megan Cassidy closed the day by winning the final race.
Â
The Wave claimed second place in every race from the B Division as Gabriela Vassel teamed with crew Charlotte Casey for the first two races. Skipper Cate Anderson joined the action with her crew Corckran to close out the day in the third and final rotation of the women's championship.
Â
Up next, the Green Wave will host the ICSA Team Race National Championships on Lake Pontchartrain from Thursday to Sunday, April 23-27. The championship action will begin with the open championship from April 23-25 followed by the women's championship from April 26-27.
