Sailing Splits Weekend with Home & Road Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing will be competing in a pair of regattas this weekend including its first home competition of the 2026-27 campaign. The Green Wave will host the Sugar Bowl Women's Fleet Race on Lake Pontchartrain while also sending a group to compete in the Navy Home Scrimmage in Annapolis, Maryland, on Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27.

The Wave placed second in the Sugar Bowl Women's Fleet Race last season behind the racing of skippers Ava Anderson, Gabriela Vassel, Oakley Cunningham and Lola Kohl. Anderson led Tulane winning the A Division while Vassel finished second in the C Division. The combination of Cunningham and Kohl in the B Division landed first in the division.

Competition at the Sugar Bowl Women's Fleet Race will feature the Green Wave alongside teams from Stanford and South Florida. The intended format for the event is to complete nine races total. Racing is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Tulane will also field teams for the Navy Home Scrimmage. The event will take place on the Severn River on Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27.
