2000: Played in all 11 games as a true freshman, including five starts at defensive tackle. Selected to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. Posted 18 tackles (eight solo), including two tackles for loss. Had a tackle and half a sack against Cincinnati (9/30). Made his first career start against Southern Miss (10/14), recording a season-best three tackles. Also had three tackles against both Army (10/21) and Houston (11/4).
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2000 graduate of Rutherford High School, where he lettered in football and track for four years each. A two-year all-county and all-district selection who also earned second team all-state honors as a senior. Registered 106 tackles and nine sacks as a senior and blocked two punts and forced five fumbles. Listed by Super Prep magazine as the fourth best D-Line prospect in the state. Played for Coach Steve Hardin. Chose Tulane over Georgia Tech and South Carolina.
PERSONAL: Hulon Edward Crayton, II. Born December 19, 1981 in Madison, Wis. The son of Hulon and Dinah Crayton. Cousin Rodney plays football for Auburn. Majoring in media arts. A member of the Tulane 3.0 Academic Club for the fall of 2000 and a 2000-2001 selection to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll. Hobbies include writing rap music.
