Spring 2005: Tulane[apos]s team leader and a First Team All-Conference USA selection as well as a First Team All-Louisiana honoree. Tied for second on the Green Wave in singles victories with 16. Played at No. 3 and No. 4 during the season and was at No. 4 to help the Wave to its third straight C-USA Championship. Clinched Tulane[apos]s victory in the C-USA semifinals. Paired with Ted Angelinos for three doubles victories in the C-USA Tournament to earn Doubles Team of the Championship honors. Tallied a team-best 19-7 mark in doubles. Had 10 dual-match singles victories against ranked teams.
Fall 2004: Had the most successful fall of any Green Wave player, registering a 10-4 record. Won his bracket in pre-qualifying for the ITA All-American Championship. Advanced to the quarterfinals of the Baylor Invitational with three wins. Also posted a 4-3 doubles mark.
Spring 2004: Selected as the Outstanding Singles Player at the C-USA Championship. Also earned All-Conference USA Third Team honors. The top singles record among five newcomers to the Wave lineup (16-5). Had a streak of 14 straight wins in singles matches, including three at the C-USA Tournament and one in the NCAA Tournament. Lost just eight games in the entire C-USA Tournament. Recorded an 11-13 doubles mark with five different partners. Was 2-1 in the C-USA Tournament and 1-1 in the NCAAs.
Prep: Transfer student from Tecnologico De Monterrey, a highly-regarded academic university in Mexico City. Formerly ranked in the top 35 in the ITF World Junior Rankings. Boasts a doubles win over Andy Roddick in the Sugar Bowl Tennis Tournament. Has participated in Futures events in Mexico. Made appearances as a junior at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the French Open.
Personal: Born April 10, 1982 in Oaxaca, Mexico. The son of Julio and Maria Hernandez. Majoring in business.
