2001: Redshirted the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: A late signee for the Wave, joining the program in June. A four-year starting quarterback for Jena. Passed for over 3,600 yards and 36 touchdowns in his career. As a senior, led the team to a best-ever 11-2 record and two victories (state quarterfinals) in the Class 3A playoffs. Earned all-state honors after passing for 2,266 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior. A four-sport letterwinner in football, basketball, baseball and track and field.

PERSONAL: Dayne Thomas Ashley. Born August 25, 1982 in Monroe, La. The son of Coye and Sherri Ashley. Majoring in exercise science. Posted a 4.0 grade-point average in high school. Served as his school[apos]s student body president.
