Nate Summers enters his eighth season with Tulane men’s basketball following his promotion to Executive Director of Men’s Basketball in July 2026. Summers served as the director of operations for Green Wave men’s basketball his first seven years in Uptown.
During his time with the Wave, Tulane has accumulated 107 wins, made one postseason appearance at the Inaugural College Basketball Crown in 2025, and reached the semifinals of the American Conference Championship three times (2025, 2023, 2022).
Summers has also been instrumental in scheduling multiple overseas trips and competitions for the Green Wave including the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship, the Cayman Islands Classic, the Cancun Challenge, and a preseason tour in Costa Rica with Samaritan’s Feet. He has helped Tulane compete in several domestic tournaments and games as well including the Myrtle Beach Invitational, Charleston Classic, Holiday Hoopsgiving, and the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic.
Beyond his regular season responsibilities, Summers helped orchestrate a trip to Chengdu, China, for the FISU World University Games in 2023. The journey to the world university games included a tour in Seoul, South Korea, a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and an extra exhibition game against China. Tulane ultimately won the bronze medal at the university games representing the United States.
His primary responsibilities include overseeing the program's budget, coordinating team travel, player personnel, game scheduling, and the day-to-day operations of the program. Summers also serves as a liaison between the men's basketball program and the athletics department.
Summers joined the Green Wave after eight seasons at Georgia State, including the last seven as the Panthers’ director of operations under head coach Ron Hunter. He took over the operations position before the start of the 2012-13 season after serving as a graduate assistant during the 2011-12 campaign.
During his time in Atlanta, Georgia State enjoyed its most successful run in the program’s history, as the Panthers produced six consecutive winning seasons and earned three NCAA Tournament bids after winning a trio of Sun Belt regular season and tournament championships, respectively.
Summers’ connection to Hunter during a three-year stint as a student manager at IUPUI from 2006-09. He was in charge of filming games, player equipment and assisting in team travel. Summers assisted an IUPUI team that went 26-7 in 2007-08 and featured George Hill, who was picked 26th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs and has been in the league for more than a decade.
Summers graduated from IUPUI in 2009 with a degree in sports management and earned his master's degree in sports administration at Georgia State in 2015. He and his wife Olivia married in July of 2020 and have two daughters, Charlotte and Monroe.
