Daishai Almond joined the women's basketball staff at Tulane in October of 2024 as the Assistant Coach / Director of Player Development.
"I'd like to thank Coach Lang for giving me this great opportunity to be apart of an amazing program," Almond said. "During my time spent with Coach Lang at Stony Brook, we built a great bond. She has made a huge impact on my career and life over the years. She is a wonderful leader and I can't wait to be back in action with her on the court!"
Almond joins the department after earning her Master's in Advanced Certification in Coaching from Stony Brook University, where she also served in a key operations role for the women's basketball program.
"Dai Dai will elevate our program immediately," head coach Ashley Langford stated. "As my former player, she understands our culture and will therefore be able to relate to current players. She is also a ball of energy, and I anticipate that energy will permeate the program."
Prior to Stony Brook, she completed her Bachelor's in Business Administration at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she excelled both on and off the court as a four-year standout point guard. Almond was recognized for her athleticism, earning multiple honors, including C-USA Freshman of the Week and being named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Outside of her academic and athletic achievements, Almond is also an entrepreneur, having founded her own street wear clothing brand, Afterlife Clo, which she has successfully operated since 2019.
With a passion for mentorship, Almond has worked extensively with youth in various basketball training programs, helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence on and off the court. Her diverse experience, from coaching and entrepreneurship to athletics, will greatly benefit the Tulane basketball community.
