He began his athletic training career at St. Bonaventure University at the athletic trainer for the men’s soccer team, the men’s and women’s swim team, and the baseball team.
His next stop was to the University of Mississippi where Gahan started working with the baseball team and soon became the Senior Athletic Trainer for the football team.
He followed his time at Mississippi by taking a position at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center.
Armed with orthopedic knowledge and Dr. James Andrews mentorship, Gahan moved back to the college Athletic Training field at Boston University. Here he developed an interest in human movement and corrective exercises while teaching Athletic Training students.
He helped to take Boston University’s (BU) Athletic Training Services out of the Athletic Department, to become a thriving unit delivering aligned clinical care in Student Health Services, operating on a multi-million dollar budget.
While at Boston University, he did national presentations on the use of kettlebells in rehabilitation programs.
Later, he and his wife opened Iron Body Studios, a brick-and-mortar kettlebell gym in the Boston area.
Iron Body Studios was recognized as a Top-10 training facility by Men’s Health in 2016.
There, Gahan combined all of his education and experience to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and strength training. EmpowerU Online Coaching, a new business that provided online training soon followed.
