Micahla Williams was hired as assistant director of academic servicesย for Tulane Athletics in 2010. He works with the Green Wave's volleyball, beach volleyball, men's cross country, men's track and field, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis and football programs.
In his current capacity, Williams monitors the academic and degree progress of his assigned sports and assists with the certification of student-athlete eligibility. He also facilitates study sessions and tutoring as well as assisting the student-athletes with registration and course scheduling.
Williams came to Tulane following a year at Delgado Community College where he handled advising and testing. Prior to that, he worked in the private sector, including stints in sales with Verizon Wireless and Pitney Bowes, Inc. He was a four-year basketball letterman (1996-2000) at Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, where he still ranks eighth in school history with 56 blocked shots.
A native New Orleanian and graduate of nearby St. Augustine High School, Williams completed his bachelor's degree in marketing from Clarke in December 2000 and is currently pursing a master's degree at Tulane.
