Jaye Loyd rejoined the Tulane volleyball program during the summer of 2011 and will fill a dual role with the program she played for in 2009. Loyd will act as the Director of Operations for the indoor squad and assume the role of assistant coach during the sand volleyball campaign. Her duties with the indoor program will include overseeing team travel and handling day-to-day operations while in the office. No stranger to Louisiana, Loyd ventured east and started her volleyball career at the University of Tennessee before transferring to Tulane for the 2009 season. After exhausting her eligibility at Tulane after an NCAA Tournament berth with the Green Wave in [apos]09, Loyd returned to Knoxville to complete her degree in English. Her absence from the Pelican State didn[apos]t last long when she accepted a job with Nicholls State as an assistant coach for the 2010 season. That year, the Colonels posted a 14-16 mark and finished fourth in the East Division of the Southland Conference with a 6-10 mark. A defensive specialist in college, Loyd helped the Colonels defense post 17.47 digs per-set in 2010, which led the Southland Conference and ranked 20th nationally. On an individual level, libero Danielle Daigle was the lone NSU player to earn All-Southland Conference honors when she brought home second team laurels at seasons end. A three-time Defensive Player of the Week, Daigle led the conference and ranked ninth nationally with a 5.61 digs per-set average. On the court, Loyd appeared in 23 matches during her only season with the Green Wave, seeing action in 71 sets, and played in 75 matches while at Tennessee. Loyd enjoyed her finest season in 2007 when she handed out 255 assists and posted 202 digs for the Volunteers. In 2009, the setter/defensive specialist dug 135 balls and added 36 assists during the season and helped Tulane advance to the NCAA Tournament.
