2008: Played in nine matches and 18 sets as a true freshman...ranked third on the team in assists (68) and assists per set (3.78)...posted double-digit assists in four of the nine matches she has played in, including a career-best 20 vs. Ohio (9/19)...had the assist on the kill that clinched the 2008 Conference USA title at UTEP on (11/14)...also chipped in with 18 digs for the year, including a season-high six against both North Dakota State and Maryland (both on 9/13).
High School: Six-year letterwinner at Coegio Butista de Caguas...earned team MVP honors in each of her final four prep seasons and was named High School Student-Athlete of the Year in 2005 and 2008...as a senior, named MVP of the High Performance League All-Star Game...earned Caguas Sportsmanship Award, presented by Caguas Mayor William Miranda Marin, in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007...also lettered four years in basketball...off the court, was a member of the Honor Roll and Student Council.
Club: Played three years for the Puerto Rico Junior National Team for coach Luis 'Papo' Garcia...served as team captain in 2006...helped the team finish fourth in the NORCECA Championship of North and Central America.
Personal: Born Jordaliz Mercado on July 19, 1990 in Caguas, Puerto Rico...daughter of Lizaida Melendez and Jorge Mercardo...has one brother, Jorge Gustavo...undecided on major.
