Meredith Schamun enters her second year on the Tulane Green Wave volleyball staff as an assistant coach.
Before joining the Green Wave, Schamun served as the director of operations for UCF after wrapping up a successful professional career. Schamun was responsible for all administrative duties for the UCF Knights, in addition to coordinating scouting, playing and practice video, player skills video, DataVolley Statistics, coordinating team travel and serving as camp director. She graduated from UCF in Dec. 2015 with a Masters in Sport & Exercise with an emphasis on coaching.
While at UCF, Schamun also coached at Orlando Volleyball Academy (OVA/TBVA), the biggest club in the state of Florida. Schamun spent time overseas playing professionaly with GSGV Guibasco in Bellinzona, Switzerland before moving to VC Wiesbaden in Germany. While in Germany, VC Wiesbaden earned the German League Bronze Medalist and German
Cup Silver Meadlist honors. Individually, Schamun earned team MVP honors following a match against Munster. After her professional playing career, Schamun coached two club teams in California in 951 Elite in Murietta, California -- her hometown -- and Prime Volleyball Club in Newport Beach.
Schamun played collegiately at Rice, where she was a highly decorated setter and four-year starter for the Owls. Schamun was a two-time All-Conference USA First Team, AVCA All-Region and AVCA All-America honorable mention selection in addition to being named the C-USA Setter of the Year in 2009. Schamun helped lead the Owls to a conference championship, as well as two NCAA Tournament berths. She wrapped up her career as Rice’s career assists leader with 5,190.
