
Navy Overpowers Tulane Football, 45-21

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Brian Madden ran for three touchdowns and threw for one as Navy capitalized on four Tulane second-half turnovers and beat the Green Wave 45-21 Saturday.
Madden rushed for 144 yards for Navy (4-6). He gained 88 yards on 11 carries in the third quarter, when he scored on runs of 9, 1 and 2 yards. Two of the touchdowns came after long interception returns that gave Navy excellent field position.
Navy broke a 21-21 tie, intercepting Tulane passes on the first two series of the second half, then drove 68 yards after a Green Wave punt for another third quarter touchdown.
Tulane's Patrick Ramsey, who threw 52 passes, was intercepted five times, matching a school record. He completed 36, for 291 yards and two touchdowns for the Green Wave (3-7). Derrick Joseph replaced Ramsey late, and was 2-of-4 for 21 yards.
Navy opened the scoring on a 33-yard Madden to Brandon Rampani pass. Ramsay hit Adrian Burnette for two scores before Navy tied it on Raheem Lambert's 11-yard run. Lambert finished with 101 yards on 19 carries, giving Navy two 100-yard rushers for the second time this season.
Gino Marchetti gave Navy a 21-14 lead, scooping up a blocked punt and running 11 yards for a score with three seconds left in the opening period.
Navy finished with 417 yards rushing, a season high.
