NEW ORLEANS - The accolades keep rolling in for Tulane women's golfer Pam Buff, as she was named Player of the Year Tuesday by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Buff, a sophomore from Duluth, Ga., earned the honor after posting a 74.79 stroke average in 11 events this season. She won two tournaments this season, including the 1999 Conference USA individual championship and finished in the top 10 eight times. Buff also qualified for the NCAA East Regional, where she finished tied for 13th place.
In spring competition, Buff posted four top-four finishes in six tournaments and was named the Conference USA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Buff is the first C-USA golfer, male of female, to win the league individual championship in back-to-back seasons.
It has taken Buff just two seasons to become the most decorated golfer in school history. She has earned Conference USA Player of the Year honors in each of her first two years at Tulane and was the 1998 C-USA Freshman of the Year as well. Buff is the only player in school history to earn consecutive berths in the NCAA Regional.
This is the second straight year that Buff has earned LSWA first team all-Louisiana accolades. She also earned first team all-Conference USA honors in 1998 and 1999.
