Tulane Stands Second at Green Wave Women's Golf Classic

NEW ORLEANS - Bolstered by the strong play of its top two players, the Tulane women's golf team stands in second place after the first two rounds of play at the 1999 Green Wave Women's Golf Classic.
Sophomores Pam Buff and Bonnie Hanlin are tied for second place after the first day of play in this 54-hole event with a two-round total of 147. As a team, Tulane stands two shots out of the lead with a team total of 605. The Green Wave "B" team stands seventh with a score of 630.
Buff and Hanlin lead a handful of Green Wave players that are positioned among the tournament leaders, as five Tulane players currently stand in the top 10. Freshman Pia Alamaki is tied for fourth with a two-round 150, while senior Christy Carter and freshman Misty Elliott are tied for ninth at 152.
Campbell University leads the tournament with a two-round team score of 603. The Camels' first-round score of 299 was the lowest team total of the first day. Rounding out the top five is Vanderbilt (615), Georgia State (623) and UAB (625).
The two-day tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes. The event is being played at Lakewood Country Club, a par 73, 5,848-yard layout.
