Tulane Track DMR Win Highlights Penn Relays Effort

PHILADELPHIA - The Tulane women's track and field distance medley relay team put forth a winning effort Saturday to highlight the final day of competition at the Penn Relay Carnival.
The quartet of Alison Lambert, Charlotte Plummer, Lana Garner and Hanne Lyngstad claimed the distance medley relay title with a time of 10:55.71. The mark was more than two seconds faster than the field of 13 and bettered the Tulane school record by more than 20 seconds.
Sophomore Nathan Junius, a native of New Orleans, La., finished third in the men's javelin with a mark of 219 feet, 5 inches. The effort was a season best for Junious.
Junior Edrige Darling ran a 51.15 to finish fourth in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Darling is an NCAA provisional qualifier in this event.
Senior Amos Kipyegon closed the Green Wave's appearance at the Penn Relays by finishing 13th in the Men's Olympic Development Mile Run in a time of 4:05.94. This mile run features a mix of the nation's best collegiate and post-graduate milers. Kipyegon was one of only four collegians to qualify for the event.
Tulane student-athletes recorded 11 top-10 finishes, eight season-best performances, one event win, and one NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the three-day Penn Relay Carnival.
The 105th running of the Penn Relay Carnival was hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
