Women's Golfers Buff and Carter Earn National Recognition

NEW ORLEANS - After outstanding seasons, Tulane women's golfers Pam Buff and Christy Carter each received a pair of national honors on Tuesday.
Buff, a sophomore from Duluth, Ga., was named 1999 NCAA Division I Honorable Mention All-America by the National Golf Coaches Association. She earned the honor after posting a 74.79 stroke average in 11 events this season. She won two tournaments this year, including the 1999 Conference USA individual championship and finished in the top 10 eight times. Buff also qualified for the NCAA East Regional, where she finished tied for 13th place.
Also an outstanding student, Buff was named to the 1999 NGCA All-American Scholar Golf Team as well. A Chemical Engineering major, Buff currently carries a 3.58 grade point average.
Carter, a senior from Rockford, Ill., also earned a spot on the NGCA All-American Scholar Golf Team. She is an Accounting major with a 3.75 GPA. It is the third consecutive year in which Carter has earned the honor. Carter carried a 79.8 stroke average through 23 rounds this season and posted two top-10 finishes. She is a two-time all-Conference USA selection.
Carter was also voted to the GTE Academic All-District VI Spring At-Large Team. It is the second time in her career that Carter has earned this accolade. She was first voted to this team in 1997. She is now eligible for GTE Academic All-America status.
No stranger to academic accolades, Carter was named the Conference USA women's golf Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1997 and 1998.
