NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Former Tulane women's basketball standout Rodnelle Hadley has been promoted to assistant women's basketball coach for the Green Wave, head coach Lisa Stockton announced on Tuesday.
Haldey had served as the program's administrative assistant since completing her eligibility in the spring of 1998. She has been an Amatuer Athletic Union (AAU) coach for the past three seasons.
"We're very excited to have Rodnelle move into our assistant coaching position," Stockton said. "She's been with our program for five years, so it should be a seamless transition. She brings a great deal of enthusiasm to the staff and has a tremendous desire to coach."
Haldey was a four-year letterwinner for the Green Wave. During her four years as a player, Tulane compiled a 88-32 (.733) record and made four straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. With Hadley at the point guard spot, the Wave captured the 1997 Conference USA regular-season championship and won the 1997 C-USA Tournament title. Hadley was also a three-time member of the Conference USA Academic Honor Roll.
Before arriving at Tulane, Haldey was a three-time all-state selection at Ecole Classique High School in Metairie. She was named the 1994 Athlete of the Year by the Times-Picayune and was selected to the Louisiana High School All-Star team as a senior.
"Having both played and coached locally, Rodnelle brings a wealth of connections in New Orleans and throughout the state of Louisiana," Stockton added. "She has experience coaching in the AAU ranks and should add a lot to our program."
