AUSTIN, Texas - - Texas opened the game with an 18-2 burst en route to a 71-47 win over the Tulane women's basketball team in the second round of the Preseason Women's National Invitational Tournament on Sunday.

The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half before the Longhorns took a 13-point cushion in the locker room.
The Longhorns also used an early burst in the second half to seal the game. Tulane's Gwen Slaughter hit a pair of free throws to start the second half, but Texas answered with a 19-5 burst to take a 25-point lead, 55-30, with 9:55 left.
