Men's Tennis Falls to Miami

MIAMI, Fla. - - Miami took four of six singles matches and swept all three doubles matches to post a 5-2 win over Tulane in men's tennis action on Friday.
The Hurricaines opened play by claiming the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Miami's team of Smid and Hoffman were 8-4 winners over Rose and Ortner at the No. 1 spot, while the Hurricaine duo of Lang and Lieberman posted an 8-4 victory over Lundberg and Viljanen at the No. 2 spot. Miami rounded out the sweep of doubles when the team of Berman and Arrowsmith claimed a 9-8 win over Tanik and Baratz at the No. 3 position.
Tulane tried to answer during singles play, but the Hurricaines kept the Green Wave at bay. Tulane' Dennis Lundberg dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision to Smid at the No. 1 spot, while Miami's Hoffman was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Jon Monk at No. 2 singles. Lindquist posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Christoph Ortner at the No. 3 spot and Lang was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Mikko Viljanen at the No. 5 position. Tulane's two freshmen, Esat Tanik and Mattias Westerberg posted Tulane's lone wins on the day. Tanik was a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 winner over Lieberman at the No. 4 spot, while Westerberg posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 6 position.
