Tulane Baseball Drops Conference Opener To Louisville, 11-1

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Costly errors and a strong Cardinal offensive attack propelled Louisville (6-14, 1-0 C-USA) to an 11-1 victory over Tulane (12-9, 0-1 C-USA) on Friday evening.
Louisville blasted a season high 17 hits, as three players recorded multiple RBI, to help RHP Brian Bentley (1-0) complete his first game of the season and become the winningest pitcher in U of L history. Bentley went nine innings gave up eight hits, one run and struck out seven.
Tulane took an early 1-0 lead on a Nick Bourgeois single in the second but failed to score any more runs through the next seven innings. A big six-run fifth inning gave Louisville a lead they would never relinquish. The Cardinals scoring began with a two RBI home run by Mike Hook. A Bill Gatti Jr. base clearing double secured U of L's lead putting them up 6-1.
Tulane's Dan O'Gara (1-3) got the loss after going 6 plus innings and giving up eight runs, four earned, and striking out four.
Bourgeois extended his team high hitting streak to 13. On the evening, Bourgeois was 2-for-4 with one RBI and a double.
The teams play on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Turchin Stadium.
