
Tulane Baseball Upsets No. 5 Houston, 15-7

HOUSTON, Texas - Tulane's (15-9-1, 2-1-1 C-USA) Jake Gautreau recorded two home runs which contributed to a Green Wave season high 19 hits en route to a 15-7 win over the Houston Cougars (19-8, 3-1 C-USA) on Friday evening.
Tulane's win snapped a Houston seven game win streak.
Houston scored two runs in the bottom of the first but Tulane answered in the top of the second as Gautreau hit a solo shot over left center to give Tulane its first run of the game. Gautreau's second home run came in the sixth. On the evening, Gautreau was 3-for-5 with a game high three RBI.
Andy Cannizaro was 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles and a pair of runs. Mickey McKee, Steve Shirley and Jay Heintz all sent in two runs.
Kyle Crowell (5-2) got the loss for Houston, as he went four innings gave up six runs and struck out none.
The winning pitcher for Tulane was Henry Bonilla (4-1) who recorded his second complete game of the season and first complete game victory this year. He scattered eight hits, struck out eight and gave up five earned runs.
Houston and Tulane play on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
