HOUSTON, Texas - Jarrod Bitter recorded a game high three RBI to lead the Houston Cougars (20-8, 4-1 C-USA) to a 10-1 win over Tulane (15-10-1, 2-2-1 C-USA) on Saturday night.
Jerret Sykes (3-1) held the Green Wave scoreless for seven innings as he scattered six hits and struck out eight en route to his third win of the season.
Tulane's only run came in the second inning on a James Burgess single. Houston went on the score 10 unanswered runs including five in the bottom of the eighth.
For the Wave, Burgess was 1-for-2 with a triple. Beau Hearod was 2-for-4.
Barth Melius (2-2) got the loss for the Green Wave. He went seven innings and struck out a career high eight batters.
The teams wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
