Baseball Takes First Game Of Louisville Doubleheader, 15-0

NEW ORLEANS, La - After shutting out the Louisville Cardinals in the first game of Sunday's double-header 15-0, the teams tied 3-3 in game two. No Tulane pitcher gave up an earned run all afternoon.
In the late game of Sunday's duo, each team scored three runs after seven sending the game into extra innings. Neither the Cardinals nor the Green Wave could manufacture any runs after the seventh and recorded the first ever tie between Conference-USA teams.
Barth Melius (2-1) pitched a scoreless 6 1/3 innings after replacing starter Henry Bonilla in the third inning. Melius struck out a career high six batters and gave up five hits.
At the plate for Tulane in game two, Mickey McKee was 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Tulane took the first game of the twinbill 15-0, as Jared Berkowitz (5-1) recorded his second complete game shutout of the season. Berkowitz scattered three hits over seven innings and tied a season high eight strikeouts. He is currently on a 23 scoreless inning streak. With the win, Berkowitz is two wins shy of breaking the Tulane career victories record.
As a team, the Wave recorded 15 hits and did not strike out once.
James Jurries recorded a game-high three RBI, as well as his first home run of the year. He was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI on the day. McKee and Jake Gautreau each sent in two runs.
Mike Gardner (0-1) got the loss. He went five innings, gave up nine runs, six earned and 10 hits.
Tulane travels Hammond, La., to take on Southeastern Louisiana at 6:30 p.m.
