
Women's Tennis Falls to Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - - Florida State claimed four of six singles matches en route to a 7-2 win over the Tulane women's tennis team on Thursday.
Alida Gallovits claimed a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Tulane's Anna Monhartova at the No. 1 spot, while FSU's Nanette Duxin was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Maiko Cook at the No. 2 position. Florida State's Kia Asberg also claimed a 6-0, 6-0, recording a win over Julie Morris at the No. 3 spot. The No. 5 match also went to Florida State, as Ali Weber earned a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Anneli Axsater.
Tulane, ranked 45th in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, did pick up a pair of wins in singles play. Jessica Kessler turned a 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 victory over Florida State's Jessica Balbuena at the No. 4 spot, while Olga Mikhailova was a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 winner over Marina Raic in the No. 6 match.
Florida State, ranked 19th in the latest ITA rankings, swept all three doubles matches. The Seminole duo of Duxin and Gallovits posted an 8-2 win over Mikhailova and Bergman at the No. 1 spot, while Asberg and Raic were 8-5 winners over the Tulane tandem of Kessler and Monhartova at the No. 2 match. Balbuena and Weber posted an 8-1 win over Cook and Axsater at the No. 3 position.
Tulane returns to action on Sat., March 18, with a road contest against South Alabama in Mobile.
