
Tulane Volleyball Falls To TCU, 3-0

FT.WORTH, Texas - The Tulane (5-3) volleyball team dropped its evening match to TCU (6-5) 3-0. The game scores were 14-16, 3-15 and 11-15. The Wave went 0-2 on the day.
TCU's strong defense shut down the Wave, as the Horned Frogs recorded 13 team blocks to Tulane's three.
Tulane freshman Kim Swafford recorded a team high nine kills. TCU's Amy Atamanczuk put down a match high 17 kills.
Despite 20 kills from senior Sentmore, the Tulane volleyball team fell to Montana State (7-1) 3-1 in the first match on the TCU Volleyball Invitational on Friday. The game scores were 15-9, 6-15, 7-15 and 16-18.
The Wave trailed the Bobcats 6-0 in the first game and battled their way to an 8-7 lead. TU went on a 7-2 scoring run and took game one 15-9. Lindsey Bennett had an errorless first game, recording six kills. Montana State got revenge in game two as they out hit the Green Wave .263 to .100 and evened the score at one game each. MSU's momentum carried them to victory with a 15-7 win of game three and an 18-16 edging in game four.
Leading the Wave was Sentmore who tallied 20 kills and eight digs. Swafford had a career high 17 kills and seven blocks. Freshman Lauren Jones-McClain had a double-double performance with 15 kills and 10 digs. Karlyn Daly made her Green Wave debut and chalked 12 digs.
Anne Watts and Karin Lundqvist led the Bobcats to victory. Watts recorded 19 kills and 10 digs, while Lundqvist posted 15 kills and 12 digs. Montana State had a strong defensive showing, out blocking the Wave 18 to12 total team blocks. Julia Handwerk had a match high 12 blocks.
Tulane plays Cal-State Fullerton at 10 a.m., on Saturday followed by a 2:30 match with San Francisco. Conference USA play begins on Tuesday, September 19 at Fogelman Arena. The Wave takes on Southern Miss.
