
Tulane Men's Tennis Cruises Over UNO

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University, ranked No. 42 in the nation, opened its home schedule with a 7-0 victory over the University of New Orleans on a brisk Thursday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Complex.
Tulane (2-1) won the doubles point with wins in two of the three matches and then swept the singles action for the shutout victory.
Freshman Michael Kogan (Kfar Saba, Israel) and senior Mikko Viljanen (Helsinki, Finland) posted a victory at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, while sophomores Victor Romero (Mexico City, Mexico) and Jorge Lievano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) teamed up for an 8-4 win at the No. 2 flight to earn the doubles point for the Green Wave.
In singles action, Kogan, Viljanen, and Romero all notched their third straight wins of the year at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3, respectively. Lievano and sophomore Mattias Westerberg (Lulea, Sweden) picked up straight-set wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 flights. Freshman Goran Vasilejevic (Varmo, Switzerland) earned his first singles victory of the year with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 triumph at No. 6.
The Green Wave is back in action on Sunday afternoon, hosting the University of Miami, ranked No. 20 in the nation, at the Goldring Tennis Complex at 10 a.m.
