
No. 20 Miami Tops Tulane Men's Tennis

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University, ranked No. 42 in the nation, was upended by the 20th-ranked University of Miami, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Complex.
Tulane (2-2) won the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. However, with the score tied at 3-3 with one match to go, the Wave could not edge the Hurricanes.
Freshman Michael Kogan (Kfar Saba, Israel) and senior Mikko Viljanen (Helsinki, Finland), ranked No. 18 in the nation in doubles, posted a victory at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, while sophomores Victor Romero (Mexico City, Mexico) and Jorge Lievano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) teamed up for an 8-4 win at the No. 3 flight to earn the doubles point for the Green Wave.
In singles action, Kogan and Viljanen notched straight set victories at No. 1 and No. 3, that pair has won all four of threir singles matches this spring. However, the Wave fell at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6. The final match pitted Romero against Miami's Mike Lang. After dropping the first set, 6-0, Romero rallied for a 6-4 win in set two. However, Lang prevailed, winning the decisive set, 6-2, giving the Hurricanes the 4-3 victory.
The Green Wave is back in action next Saturday afternoon, hosting No. 58 Oklahoma at the Goldring Tennis Complex at noon.
