
Women's Tennis Falls at No. 34 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - - Despite a three-set win from Anna Monhartova, the Tulane women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to TCU on Saturday.
Tulane dropped to 2-2 in dual match play, while TCU evened its record at 1-1. Tulane entered the match ranked 49th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings, while TCU was 34th.
TCU claimed wins at four of six singles spot to seal the victory. Anna Monhartova and Maiko Cook did post wins for the Green Wave, at the No. 1 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Monhartova posted a 0-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over Katrin Gaber at the No. 1 spot, while Cook was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Brenna Shackelford in the No. 6 singles match.
Julie Morris dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to TCU's Rosa Perez at the No. 2 spot, while Joyce Bergman fell 6-0, 6-0 to Paty Aburto at the No. 3 spot. TCU's Saber Pierce posted a 7-5, 6-1 win over Anneli Axsater at No. 4 singles before Karolina Roubickova claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win over Tulane's Nancy Kockett at the No. 5 spot.
Only one doubles match was played, with TCU's team of Pierce and Perez posting a 8-4 win over the Tulane duo of Julie Morris and Joyce Bergman.
Tulane returns to action on Monday, as the Green Wave play host to Florida State at the Goldring Tennis Stadium. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
