Second Straight Ranked Foe Falls to Men's Tennis

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Tulane University defeated its second ranked opponent in as many days with a 4-0 win over the University of Minnesota in day three action of the Blue-Gray Men's Tennis Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Wave, ranked No. 44 in the nation, also defeated No. 32 Wake Forest on Saturday.
Tulane earned the doubles point to open the match, winning at No. 1 and No. 3 to clinch the point. Freshman Michael Kogan (Kfar Saba, Israel) and senior Mikko Viljanen (Vantaa, Finland) teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and freshman Jorge Lievano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and sophomore Victor Romero (Atizapan, Mexico) had an 8-5 victory at No. 3.
Romero earned a point at No. 2 singles with a 7-6, 6-4 victory, while Lievano and sophomore Mattias Westerberg (Lulea, Sweden) were straight-set winners at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
The remainder of the matches was not completed due to tournament time constraints.
Tulane is back in action on Thursday, hosting No. 8 Tennessee at the Goldring Tennis Complex at 3 p.m.
