NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Arkansas, ranked No. 29 in the nation, defeated No. 39 Tulane University, 5-1, in men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at the Hilton RiverCenter Tennis Complex.
The match was played indoors at the RiverCenter due to rain.
The lone point for the Green Wave (7-8) was picked up by freshman Michael Kogan (Kfar Saba, Israel), who won a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 decision at No. 2 singles. Kogan had missed last week's match against No. 9 Tennessee due to injury.
Sophomore Victor Romero (Atizapan, Mexico), who was playing in the No. 1 slot, had his streak of four-straight wins over nationally-ranked opponents snapped by the Razorbacks. Today's foe was no easy task, however, as Romero faced No. 1 ranked Oskar Johansson, falling, 6-2, 6-4.
Sophomore Jorge Lievano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) also played an excellent match, but was defeated at fourth singles, 6-7, 7-6, 6-7.
The Green Wave is back in action on Friday, playing at No. 33 Tulsa at 5 p.m.
