Men's Tennis Wins Second Straight Match

TULSA, Okla. - Tulane University won its second straight match to open the 2002 spring season, defeating Oral Roberts, 6-1, in men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Wave, ranked No. 31 in the nation, capturted the doubles point behind junior Jorge Lievano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and sophomore Hannu Piiroinen (Tampere, Finland), who had an 8-4 win at first doubles. At No. 2, sophomore Goran Vasiljevic (Varmo, Switzerland) and junior Mattias Westerberg (Lulea, Sweden) won 8-2 to clinch the doubles point.
Lievano, playing his second match at No. 1, cruised to a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Westerberg followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2. Piiroinen and Vasiljevic had straight set wins at Nos. 3 and 4. Sophomore Tatsuhiro Ishii (Nashville, Tenn.) picked up his first win of the season with a three-set super-tiebreaker triumph at No. 5 singles.
Tulane returns to action on Sunday, playing at No. 47 Tulsa at 12 noon.
