Day Two Complete at Tulane Men's Tennis Invitational

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The second full day of top-level collegiate men's tennis completed at the Tulane University Invitational on Saturday at the Goldring Tennis Stadium. The tourney features seven schools; in addition to Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Middle Tennessee State, UNO, San Diego State and Southern Miss will compete in the event.

In a top-flight singles draw battle between highly-ranked teammates, it was Tulane's 17th-ranked Michael Kogan defeating 39th-ranked Victor Romero, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, to earn team honors for the day.
Tulane's Jorge Lievano also earned a victory in top flight singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over LSU's Jason hazley. However, the Green Wave's Mattias Westerberg was upended by Michael Staniak from Middle Tennessee State, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6. The other top flight singles match saw ninth-ranked Oliver Maiberger from San Diego State cruise to a 6-3, 6-3 win over 68th-ranked Bryan Fisher from LSU.
In top flight doubles action, Maiberger and Ryan Redondo, ranked No. 3 in the nation, solidified their ranking with an 8-6 victory over Tulane's Kogan and Romero, who hold the No. 5 ranking in the country. The San Diego State duo also defeated Hazley and Fisher from LSU.
Sunday's schedule features more top-ranked flight action, as well as the title matches in the #1 Singles and the #2 Singles Draws.

The Invitational has three flights for both singles and doubles. The top flight in singles and doubles will be a round-robin event featuring players competing for national rankings. Singles players are guaranteed four matches in the round-robin format.
The "#1" and "#2" Flights are traditional brackets divided according to skill levels.
This weekend's event is free of charge and concessions are available for fans. Results for Sunday's matches will be posted on www.TulaneGreenWave.com periodically as matches are completed.
