No. 8 Illinois Men's Tennis Snaps Tulane Win Streak

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Tulane University had its four-match winning streak snapped by No. 8 Illinois, 4-0, in second round action at the Blue-Gray Collegiate Classic with on Friday afternoon at Lagoon Park.
Tulane, ranked No. 35 in the nation, falls to 10-3 on the year. Illinois, which held the No. 1 ranking in the nation two weeks ago, improves to 9-3. The Wave will face No. 31 South Alabama on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The Green Wave's nationally-ranked doubles tandem of sophomore Michael Kogan (Kfar-Saba, Israel) and junior Victor Romero (Atizapan, Mexico) suffered their first loss of the season. The Wave pair, No. 13 in the nation, could not upset the No. 7 ranked combo of Michael Calkins and Amer Delic, falling 8-5, at No. 1. In singles action, Illinois had straight-set victories at Nos. 2, 5 and 6 singles to clinch the victory. The other matches were not finished due to tournament time constraints.
