
Green Wave Extends Tennis Win Streak Over State Schools

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University won its eighth straight men's tennis match against a Louisiana school on Thursday afternoon, cruising to a 7-0 victory over Southeastern Louisiana at the Goldring Tennis Stadium. The Green Wave has not lost to a Louisiana school since a 4-3 loss to UL-Lafayette in the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
Tulane, currently at No. 31 in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, is the highest ranked school in the state. LSU is the only other ranked school in the state at No. 45. The Wave also has the top-ranked player in the state with sophomore Michael Kogan (Kfar-Saba, Israel), who is No. 23. Junior Victor Romero (Atizapan, Mexico) is ranked No. 67 in the country. LSU's Daniel Kiernan, at No. 89, is the only other ranked player in the state. The Green Wave's doubles tandem of Kogan and Romero is ranked No. 8 in the country, the only doubles team in the rankings from Louisiana.
Tulane (15-6) cruised to victories at all six singles positions, the followed by earning the doubles point to complete its second shutout of the season. The teams played their singles matches prior to doubles due to the threat of rain.
The Wave returns to action on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. when it hosts UL-Lafayette.
