BATON ROUGE, La. - Freshman Erik Emilsson (Bjarred, Sweden) led Tulane University in day one action at the LSU Team Invitational on Friday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Emilsson won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:56.98. The majority of the events featured preliminary heats on Friday.
Freshman Ellen Vollmers (Orono, Maine) improved on her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 10-06 to earn ninth place overall. Freshman Camilla Hatlen (Mosjoen, Norway) was the Wave's top finisher in the long jump, leaping 18-02.25 to finish in seventh place.
Tulane qualifiers in the sprinting events included senior Asha James (Pickering, Ontario) in the 100 and 200 meters and freshman Angel Dooley (Columbus, Ohio) in the 100.
Action will continue on Saturday afternoon.
