NEW ORLEANS, La. - - The Tulane women's tennis team has added Troy Stone as an assistant coach, Green Wave head coach David Schumacher has announced.
Stone, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, is a December 2001 graduate of James Madison University. While a collegiate tennis player at JMU, he and his doubles partner were ranked as high as 44th nationally by the ITA. He continues to play Davis Cup matches for Trinidad and Tobago, as he has for the past three years.
"We're excited to have Troy Stone join our program as a volunteer assistant coach," Schumacher said. "He brings a great deal of expertise and experience to the team and should help the girls improve as players."
Stone has been based out of New Orleans while traveling to play in professional tournaments around the world.
The members of the Tulane women's tennis team will play in various individual tournaments throughout the fall semester. Tulane will play host to the Green Wave Classic beginning Oct. 4 at the Goldring Tennis Complex. The tournament will feature some of the top collegiate players in the nation, including players from No. 10 Texas, No. 26 South Alabama, No. 28 TCU and No. 51 LSU.
